Today I’d like to share my testimony with you all. It’s just one of many. I didn’t know what to talk about when I needed to write a new blog post. Then I feel that God wanted me to talk about my experience.

Everything started in 2016. It was still early for me to think about university. But back then I already knew that I wanted to go to the U.S. for college. My mom started to search on the internet. We realized that I couldn’t attend any of the colleges there. The school fees were too expensive for me and my family.

She started to look up for christian colleges in the U.S and Canada. She found out about the University of the Nations. When she learned more about UofN she discovered that they have colleges all around the world. My eyes started to sparkle. I started to look it up for myself. One day I was on Facebook and I looked at some posts in my feed. Something caught my attention. I saw a post from YWAM Los Angeles and I decided to have a look. It was so interesting that I loved it right away. I submitted my name, email and phone number to get more infos. I connected with them and I was very excited.

The time to decide what to do after high school

After two years from the first time I knew about YWAM I started to consider joining DTS (discipleship training school). This course is required in order to enter UofN.

In December 2018 I went to Madagascar for a whole month. I fell in love with my country and I wished I could do something to help my people.

If you don’t know I was born in Madagascar but I live in Italy. I moved here in Italy in 2006. From that year till now I went back to Madagascar just two times – in 2011 and 2018. In 2011 I was just 11, I was too young to realize some realities about my own country. Only during the second time we flew back there I opened my eyes about the poverty there. It hit me so hard.

When I came back to Italy I decided that I wanted to go to Madagascar for my DTS. I wanted to go back to my country and be a helper there. So I planned everything out – after high school I had to go to Madagascar but it didn’t work out. It didn’t work out because I’m conscious that it wasn’t God’s plan for me.

My love for the Philippines… how my dream ended

When I knew that I couldn’t go to Madagascar I felt heartbroken. Not much longer after, I decided that maybe the Philippines was the right place for me. I searched for DTS there and I found one that was perfect for me, it was perfect also for the timing. The course had to start mid January 2020 and I finished my high school in July 2019. I contacted them and we kept in touch for months, I told people around that I decided the Philippines as my destination. I was so excited. But then at the beginning of October 2019 they told me that the course in January was canceled. My heart broke again, at that point I didn’t know what to do anymore.

Meanwhile my cousin was in South Africa for his DTS and he asked me if I wanted to join them. Of course he had to ask his leaders first. I started to think about going there but after a week or so he told me that it was too late for me to join them.

The path that God prepared for me

Again… for the third time things didn’t work out. I almost gave up, I couldn’t find the right place for me and it was also too late for me to go to University.
One time my mom and I decided to go before God and pray about this, I wanted to join any DTS. My mom surfed on the net again and… boom!! She found a DTS in Bali, the start of the course was end January 2020 – it was perfect for me.

Since we found it, everything seemed to work out smoothly. I knew it was the path that God prepared for me. Two months passed by and I finally took that plane for Bali. It was the first time I flew alone to go to such a distant place. I felt scared and excited – something new was coming for me.

All the things that I told you are part of my testimony that I want to share with you. But this is just the beginning of something even greater.
